THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TAKAGARI (M Yeni) and PRECIOUS METAL (C Habib) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TAKAGARI (M Yeni), WILDEYE (R Danielson) and GOLD AMBITION (*J Solomons) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer R R Sage, Trainer J J van Vuuren and Trainer S G Tarry were advised that should these horses behave in a similar manner in future, they may be suspended (AH). b) TAKAGARI (M Yeni) raced wide and without cover around the turn. c) INDUS KNIGHT (W Kennedy) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) INDUS KNIGHT (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
