THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT (J Gates) and CAPTAIN SEAGER (W Kennedy) lost 1 length, respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RODRIGUEZ (A Mgudlwa) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this colt had nothing to come in the straight. b) CAPTAIN SEAGER (W Kennedy) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) At the 1100m, SIR MICHAEL (K de Melo) shifted out sharply when racing onto the heels of CAPTAIN SEAGER (W Kennedy). d) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse PURPLE FLAME more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse PURPLE FLAME, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. e) HASTA MANANA (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer L Karriem acting on behalf of Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (ML). f) LET'S TWIST AGAIN (M Yeni), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Howells advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) HASTA MANANA raced without blinkers (advised 04.12.21/10h07). b) CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT raced with a compression mask. c) PURPLE FLAME raced with a compression mask. d) BOHEMIAN LAD Jockey T Godden weighed out at 54.5kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 54kg.
