THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A BLOSSOM FELL (S Moodley) and VICTORY VISION (M Yeni) were restless in the stalls. b) POPPY OF BAYEUX (*D Geerthsen) jumped awkwardly. c) CARNELIAN BAY (C Zackey) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Into the first turn, CARNELIAN BAY (C Zackey) was carried in by JAYANDRI (M Mjoka) which shifted in sharply to avoid the heels of TIDE IS HIGH (T Godden). b) Jockey D De Gouveia signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse FLAG OF WREN more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey D De Gouveia struck the horse FLAG OF WREN, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. c) POPPY OF BAYEUX (*D Geerthsen), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) ZURI'S STAR was ridden by Jockey A Arries (advised 10.12.21/11h51). b) CAMELIAN BAY was ridden by Jockey C Zackey (advised 06.12.21/6h51). c) VENTUROUS raced without blinkers, without a tongue tie and raced with a compression mask (advised 02.12.21/9h45). d) IRON CHEF raced without blinkers (advised 05.12.21/20h39).
