THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROSE OF MINE (+B Maswazi) fly jumped leaving the stalls and bumped SHE'S MY CAPTAIN (+W Bambiso) which had jumped awkwardly. b) HELENCANUCOPE (+M Sigenu) and HELEN'S LEGEND (+C Dixon) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stewards reviewed the start of this race with regards to SHE'S MY CAPTAIN (+W Bambiso) in stall gate 9 and ROSE OF MINE (+B Maswazi) in stall gate 8 and established that after being bumped by ROSE OF MINE (+B Maswazi) which fly jumped leaving the stalls, work rider W Bambiso had become unbalanced which resulted in SHE'S MY CAPTAIN throwing her head up, losing momentum and racing at the back of the field in the early stages. The Stewards were satisfied that neither horse had been impeded and both were declared runners. b) IF YOU PLEASE (+B Thwalani) was hanging out throughout and proved difficult to assist. c) HELEN'S LEGEND (+C Dixon) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K van den Berg) d) AFRICAN WINTER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (BM) e) ROCK ON CAPTAIN, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
