THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LIFE GOES ON (W Kennedy) was fractious in the stalls which resulted in VAR AGLOW (M Yeni) becoming restless in the stalls. Both horses were removed and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. Subsequently, LIFE GOES ON (W Kennedy) was withdrawn and VAR AGLOW (M Yeni) was declared fit to race. After taking into consideration LIFE GOES ON's non-history in the starting stalls, Trainer C Binda was advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In a tightly bunched field, RUNNING RIFLES (C Zackey) was squeezed out approaching the first turn. b) At the 700m, VAR AGLOW (M Yeni) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL (K Sakayi) which rolled in. Thereafter, WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL (K Sakayi) was hanging in from the 300m, proving difficult to assist. c) In the concluding stages, RUNNING RIFLES (C Zackey) switched out to continue its run. Thereafter, this gelding which was finishing its race off strongly, was brushed in by CAPTAIN WHO (A Mgudlwa) which was hanging in from the 200m. d) KNIGHT WARRIOR (G Wright), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) STORM CHASER raced with a tongue tie (advised 09.12.21/8h11). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) VAR AGLOW : Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe. b) WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL : Returned post-race having cast the right hind shoe. THE MEDICAL OFFICER REPORTED : a) Jockey M Yeni stood down after the running of this Race:- sprained right wrist. Unable to continue riding. Dr Pillay. Rule 25.12 does not apply. b) Jockey C Zackey stood down after the running of this Race:- bruised right heel. Unable to continue riding. Dr Pillay. Rule 25.12 does not apply. SCRATCHINGS : a) LIFE GOES ON : Injured in stalls. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 16h07 and the betting was 5/1. Rule 53.5 applies.
