THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OVER TWO YOU (K de Melo) jumped awkwardly. b) DUKE OF LEINSTER (G Behr) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SUNDAY ISLAND (G van Niekerk) was resaddled at the start, causing a delay. b) FLOW FOREVER (M Winnaar) and DRENGS FERRY (C Zackey) pulled hard in the early stages. c) GREEN TIGER (K Steyn) raced wide on the bend and into the straight. d) From a wide draw SUNDAY ISLAND (AUS) was steadied and taken in behind runners. Thereafter, SUNDAY ISLAND (AUS) was held up for a clear run in the straight and had to be steadied and directed outwards when unable to secure a narrow run between DRENGS FERRY (C Zackey) and FLOW FOREVER (M Winnaar) at the 300m. e) Jockey G Behr, rider of DUKE OF LEINSTER which finished tailed off, reported he felt something amiss with this gelding and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of TOZZETTI (R Fourie) (Betting 13/2 ; Distance 8.20), which had difficulty securing clear running between the 350m and 200m mark, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Jockey A Andrews, the rider of QUESTION THE STARS, reported this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. h) OVER TWO YOU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
