THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The saddle on MASTER OF POWER (D Ashby) slipped back in running resulting in Jockey D Ashby being unable to assist this gelding in the straight. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. b) IZAPHA (G van Niekerk) was hanging out from the 200m and had to be straightened approaching the 100m. c) In view of the performance of SWIFT SURPRISE (R Fourie) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on ALL LIT UP, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey K de Melo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00. e) MASTER OF POWER (D Ashby) was reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be assisted by a handler, causing a lengthy delay. This gelding is suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 93.2.4 until such time as he proves tractable proceeding to the start on a race day. f) LOOK FOR HOUNDS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
