THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RASPBERRY BERET (S Veale) took a number of awkward strides in the straight. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey A Marcus signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse ABBACADABRA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Marcus struck the horse ABBACADABRA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. c) ABBACADABRA (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer L Goosen acting on behalf of Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RASPBERRY BERET raced with ear muffs and without a compression mask (advised 14.12.21/9h41). b) AMERICAN DAME raced equipped with blinkers and raced without ear muffs (advised 15.12.21/8h43).
