ZODIAC PRINCESS jumped outwards. CHRISTMAS FLOWER and INNTROUBLE were slow into stride. SPORTS TATTOO jumped inwards. Shortly after the start MELLOW MUSIC and THE LADY IS MINE came together and bumped when awkwardly placed between ZODIAC PRINCESS, which jumped out, and SPORTS TATTOO, which jumped in. Jockey Zechner and Jockey Thackeray reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. CHRISTMAS FLOWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he hit the horse CHRISTMAS FLOWER more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into account the excessive number of strikes, the fact the he won the race, as well as his recent poor record with regards to a contravention of this Rule and Guideline. Jockey Habib signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he hit the horse STARTING LINE more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration that this was Jockey Habib's first offence of this Rule this season. Vet: ZODIAC PRINCESS - blowing.
