THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RUNNING BRAVE (J Gates) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) ROUGE ALLURE (N Klink) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SAVANNAH STORM (C Maujean) was bumped by MALMOOS (W Kennedy), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) RUNNING BRAVE (J Gates) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. As a consequence, Jockey J Gates briefly lost the footing to his left-side stirrup iron. c) MALMOOS (W Kennedy) hung in from the 200m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was requested to report on the condition of this colt on return to stables. d) WAR OF ATHENA (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
