THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VICTORIA PAIGE (C Maujean) was slow losing five lengths. The Starting Stall Certificate for this mare has been withdrawn.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to VICTORIA PAIGE, this mare has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 21 December 2021 to 27 December 2021. VICTORIA PAIGE may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer S G Tarry advised (GT).
b) After jumping awkwardly from the stalls, VICTORIA PAIGE (C Maujean) was slow away losing five lengths and thereafter raced detached from the field throughout.
c) Jockey A Marcus reported that OUR PRIZED JEWEL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
d) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking HEDWIG more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500 was imposed.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (15) and Jockey Matsunyane's record with regard to this Rule and Guideline.
e) HEDWIG (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Magner advised (MdP).
f) ADMIRE ME (*R A Venniker), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Nassif acting on behalf of Trainer G H van Zyl advised (MS).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) FANTASTICAL was ridden by Jockey N Klink (declared 19 December 2021 at 20H09).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) VICTORIA PAIGE raced equipped with blinkers and with a compression mask on (declared 20 December 2021 at 07H53).
b) ADMIRE ME Apprentice R A Venniker weighed out at 54,2kg, only claiming 2kg of her 2,5kg allowance.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) VICTORIA PAIGE blowing.
b) OUR PRIZED JEWEL abnormal respiratory noise.
c) ONLY THE BRAVE brush wound left hind.
