THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VAGUELY FAMILIAR (K Matsunyane) was slow losing one length. b) ELUSIVE ROCKET (*K A Brewer) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow away losing one length and SACRED VALLEY (J Gates) was stubborn loading. Assistant Trainer A Peter was advised to re-school these horses prior to their next engagements (LAS). c) AFTER ME (Wes Marwing) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RATTLE BAG (S Khumalo) proved reluctant proceeding to the start and had to be led by a handler. Stable Employee P de Palmo was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended (GF). b) As the start was effected, SACRED VALLEY (J Gates) jumped awkwardly making contact firstly with the left-side front gate and thereafter with the right-side front gate leaving the stalls. c) The saddle on THREE HILLS slipped back in running. This was confirmed by an Official. d) Shortly before the finish line, TUULETAR (W Kennedy) which rolled in and THREE HILLS (C Zackey) which shifted out away from the crop, came together and brushed. e) THREE HILLS (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C J Lensley advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) KISSED BY FIRE raced without a tongue tie (declared 21 December 2021 at 08H59). b) ELUSIVE ROCKET raced equipped with blinkers (declared 21 December 2021 at 08H25). c) QUEEN NANDI raced with a tongue tie on (declared 21 December 2021 at 08H30). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) TUULETAR not striding out left hind. b) AFTER ME blowing. c) ELUSIVE ROCKET stirrup rub left-hand side. d) QUEEN NANDI choked up.
