THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOCKOFTHEBAY (C Maujean), LEMON DELIGHT (K Matsunyane) and WOKONDA (*K A Brewer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1300m, WOKONDA (*K A Brewer) had to ease off the heels of RED SAXON (J Mariba) which shifted in. Jockey J Mariba was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of RED SAXON, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to WOKONDA (*K A Brewer) when he shifted in at the 1300m. Jockey Mariba signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. Suspension dates to be advised. b) Approaching the 150m, Jockey J Mariba dropped his right-side rein which he only regained at the 50m. As a consequence of this, RED SAXON hung out badly. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that WINTER WITH JO coughed in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) GOODTIME GUY (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (MdP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) DOCKOFTHEBAY raced with a tongue tie on (declared 24 December 2021 at 09H25). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WINTER WITH JO coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
