THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LITTLE DOE (K de Melo) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths. b) NIPPY WINTER (G Cheyne) was restless in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. c) YOUNG LOVE (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) G Cheyne, the rider of NIPPY WINTER, which jumped awkwardly, lost his right-side stirrup iron and regained it at the 1000m. b) HILARITY (GB) (S Khumalo) was forced to ease when severely tightened for galloping room between RISING FENIX (K de Melo) and YOUNG LOVE (G van Niekerk), which was directed to the outside of FEARLESS TRIP (D Ashby) at the 100m. Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of YOUNG LOVE he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HILARITY at the 100m. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 30/12/2021 to 05/01/2022 inclusive) c) RISING FENIX (K de Melo) and FEARLESS TRIP (D Ashby) were hanging out in the latter stages. d) The saddle on NIPPY WINTER (G Cheyne) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. e) MA BLACK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
