THE STARTER REPORTED A) FRENCH JOY was restless in the stalls. Trainer T J Laing was advised to re-school this filly prior to its next engagement. B) PARIS OPERA was slow into stride. C) SOFIA ERIN was stubborn loading. The starting stall certificate for this filly is withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) A false start was called by the starter with regard to FRENCH JOY (C Maujean) in stall gate (3) which broke through the front gate open prematurely to the start being effected. All horses were re-strained by the riders with the exception of SOFIA ERIN (*K Strydom), BLINDLOVE (M Yeni) and WINTER RENEGADE (S Naidoo) which bolted the course and were scratched. the remainder of the runners were subject to a veterinary check, passed fit to race and re-loaded. B) In view of the performance of EUROPEANA (G Cheyne) (distance 4.25 - betting 5/4) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) In view of the performance of QUICK WIT (*Y Ramzan) (distance 5.75 - betting 25/4) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. D) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SOFIA ERIN (*K Strydom), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading into the stalls. Suspension dates: 01 January 2022 to 07 January 2022 both days included. SOFIA ERIN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. E) The winner QUENANZA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer S B Kotzen advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) PARIS OPERA raced equipped with pacifiers (09:31 - 30/12/201). B) ENGLISH PRINCESS raced equipped with a compression mask and without blinkers (08:55 - 31/12/2021). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER A) Trainer W G C Miller's attention was drawn to the provisions of Rule 10.5.7 pertaining to COUNTESS HELEN (T Gould) not having raced for 120 days or more at the time of entries. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) QUICK WIT and EUROPEANA examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. B) CATCH THE CAT overreach right fore outer heel. C) SOFIA ERIN, BLINDLOVE and WINTER RENEGADE scratched, bolted the course. SCRATCHINGS A) SOFIA ERIN, BLINDLOVE and WINTER RENEGADE bolted the course (16:40 - 31/12/2021).
