THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BACK TO FORMENTERA (*D B Geerthsen) was slow losing one length. b) WOLF MOON (*J R Syster) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slow away, BACK TO FORMENTERA (*D B Geerthsen) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. b) Apprentice R A Venniker reported that CARUSO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) RUN FOR ISLA (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) PASHASHA was ridden by Jockey G Lerena (declared 1 January 2022 at 08H16). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CARUSO raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 31 December 2021 at 07H50). b) RUN FOR ISLA raced equipped with blinkers (declared 29 December 0221 at 16H59). c) MIDFIELD GIRL raced with club colours (blue and black). Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he did not have available the registered colours of the owner/s of the horse MIDFIELD GIRL. Trainer Matchett signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CARUSO examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) DHANTERAS coughing. c) RUN FOR ISLA cut into right front. SCRATCHED: a) ALL THE ROSES insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
