THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS (K de Melo) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WILLIAM ROBERTSON (R Munger) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. b) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking PRINCE OF FIRE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times that Jockey Khumalo used his crop (14) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (fourth offense). c) WILLIAM ROBERTSON (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Spies advised (MdP). d) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS (K de Melo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J van Vuuren advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) PRINCE OF FIRE was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (declared 31 December 2021 at 09H17). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NOBLE STRIKER raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 28 December 2021 at 09H32). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PYROMANIAC scalp wound right hind.
