THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, MILAN'S PRINCESS (*D B Geerthsen) broke through the front gates dislodging Apprentice Geerthsen and bolted the course. b) As the start was effected, COLD FACT (W Kennedy) threw her head down and to the side losing three lengths. Trainer P A Peter was advised to re-school this filly prior to her next engagement (PHvdW). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the initial loading process, MILAN'S PRINCESS (*D B Geerthsen) broke through the front gates, dislodging Apprentice Geerthsen and bolted the course. The Board acting in terms of Rule 93.2.5 and taking into consideration this filly's history of being unruly and breaking through the front gates, has imposed a permanent suspension on her from running in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainers B/Y Botes Vosloo were advised. b) A race review was called into the start of this race with regards to COLD FACT in stall gate 5. After reviewing the patrol films of the start, the Stewards established that this filly threw her head down and to the side as the start was effected, resulting in her being slow away giving ground to the field. c) Jockey C Maujean (IMPRESSIVE DUCHESS) and Jockey M Yeni (MULETA) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. d) SEEMYVISION (B Nyawo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee J Dhlamini advised (DR). e) BIG EYED GIRL (K de Melo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J van Vuuren advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) IMPRESSIVE DUCHESS blowing. b) MULETA examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) GLOWTORIA abrasion right nostril. d) ALABAMA ANNA scalp wound left hind. SCRATCHED: a) MILAN'S PRINCESS bolted the course - immediate reinstatement (NHA / 15H37) Betting 7/1. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
