THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CANFORD LIGHTS (A Domeyer) and NOT IN DOUBT (O Noach) jumped slow, losing one length. b) WITHOUT QUESTION (G van Niekerk) made contact with PURE MAVERICK (S Khumalo) shortly after the start was effected. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) NOT IN DOUBT (O Noach) stumbled shortly after the start. b) At the 400m GRINKOV (G Lerena), which raced green, had to steady when it attempted to make its run on the outside of COUSIN CASEY (L Mxothwa) and was awkwardly placed between FEDERAL RESERVE (M Winnaar), which raced green and rolled outwards and PURE MAVERICK (S Khumalo), which raced green and rolled inwards. c) After having speed in the early stages of the race, SMITH AND WESSON (A Marcus) weakened from the 250m. d) Trainer GS Kotzen was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner of the horse GRINKOV. Assistant Trainer D McLachlan, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer GS Kotzen was given the penalty of a warning. e) STREET OUTLAW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
