THE STARTER REPORTED: a) I'M IN CHARGE (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) HEKNOWS (R Fourie) was slow into stride. c) DOG DETACHMENT (O Noach) and TCHAIKOVSKY (A Domeyer) made contact shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ICANSEECLEARLYNOW (G Cheyne) did not settle in the early and middle stages and raced with its head up in the air, which placed Jockey Cheyne at a disadvantage. The gelding then rolled outwards and raced wide on the bend from the 1000m and subsequently weakened in the straight. b) Jockeys S Khumalo and C Zackey, the riders of BON BOYAGE and I'M IN CHARGE respectively, reported that these geldings made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) POMODORO'S JET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) Nil RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BON BOYAGE - examined post-race. Abnormal respiratory noise detected b) I'M IN CHARGE - examined post-race. Pronounced abnormal respiratory noise detected; not striding out right hind; cut wound on right flank c) TCHAIKOVSKY - abnormal respiratory noise detected post-race d) DONDER STORM - scalp wound on left hind THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
