THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOOD TRAVELLER (M Winnaar) was restless in the stalls. b) JET DARK (S Khumalo) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) POMP AND POWER (K de Melo) slipped its bridle on arriving at the start, which was re-fitted. Subsequently, this gelding kicked while installed in the starting gates, was taken out, checked by the course veterinary surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) KOMMETDIEDING (G Lerena) was re-saddled at the start. c) The above events contributed to a delay to the start of this race. d) Jockey G Lerena, the rider of KOMMETDIEDING, appeared before the Board and was spoken to regarding the use of his crop. e) SEEKING THE STARS (B Fayd'Herbe) was hanging out between the 300m and the 100m. f) In view of the performance of WARRIOR (A Marcus) (Betting 14/1 ; Distance 11.15) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) JET DARK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SC) h) KOMMETDIEDING, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised.
