THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) TEMPELHOFF (K de Melo) was hanging in from the 250m. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that DENISA did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey D Dillon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse FEARLESS KITTY more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey D Dillon struck the horse FEARLESS KITTY, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. Additionally, Jockey D Dillon was advised that the number of times he struck FEARLESS KITTY was unacceptable and that should he appear before the Board regarding similar usage in the near future, a more severe sanction may be imposed. d) SNOW TUNE (*R Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
