THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BOLD FORTUNE (D de Gouveia) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that SARAGON made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. b) Apprentice K A Brewer reported that OPERA GLASS coughed in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey D de Gouveia was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking BOLD FORTUNE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey de Gouveia signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into account the number of times the crop was used (13) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (1). d) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ETERNITY RING more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R3500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into account the number of times the crop was used (14) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (5). e) BOLD FORTUNE (D de Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ONLY THE BRAVE was ridden by Jockey R Munger (declared 18 January 2022 at 08H31). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ROUGE ALLURE raced without cheek pieces and equipped with blinkers (declared 17 January 2022 at 17H30). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SHIVERS blowing. b) LA LUVIA brush wound left hind. c) ONLY THE BRAVE blowing. d) OPERA GLASS coughed post race. e) SARAGON examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
