THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPARKLING FLAME (S Moodley) and TELL MY FORTUNE (D De Gouveia) were carried out by LUCK OF THE IRIS (S Brown) which jumped out. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) TOP TEN (*M Katjedi) was hanging out in the concluding stages. b) Apprentice R Venniker signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline N, in that as the rider of GOLDEN GROVE, she used her crop in a manner which resulted in this filly being struck on its head in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R10 000 was imposed. Apprentice R Venniker was further advised that the frequency of her appearances in the Boardroom with regard to contraventions of this Rule are unacceptable and that should she appear before the Board regarding a similar incident in the near future, more severe sanctions may follow. c) GOLDEN GROVE (*R Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
