THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Both paramedics proceeded to the start which necessitated one of them having to be re-positioned, causing a delay. b) JACK AND GINGER (B Fayd'Herbe) was restless in the stalls, got his hind leg stuck on the running board, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn, causing a further delay. c) IDEAL TIME (K Steyn) jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) IDEAL TIME (K Steyn) was hanging out badly in the straight and proved difficult to assist. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) In view of the report from the starter regarding JACK AND GINGER (B Fayd'Herbe) this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 24/01/2022 to 30/01/2022 inclusive). JACK AND GINGER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. c) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on HIGH DUDGEON, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00. d) HINCKLEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised. (DD) e) HIGH DUDGEON, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) HIGH DUDGEON raced with blinkers (declared 09h45 on 20220121) b) C Bantam rode HIGH DUDGEON (Jockey L Mxothwa unable to make the carded weight) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) JACK AND GINGER - injured in the stalls (withdrawn at the start) b) AENEAS - brush wound right hind c) IDEAL TIME - blowing post-race SCRATCHED a) JACK AND GINGER - injured in the stalls.
