THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EARL OF CARDIGAN (M Khan) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) MCEBISI (S Brown) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) DARK HORSE (S Khumalo) and MACTAVISH (C Maujean) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) En route to the start, GIMME ROYALTY (Wes Marwing) cast its left front shoe which was replaced by the Course Farrier at the start. b) Shortly after the start, VENERABLE (G Lerena), which jumped inwards, and EARL OF CARDIGAN (M Khan), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. c) MACTAVISH (C Maujean) hung in from the 400m. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with VENERABLE in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) CASTLE OF GLASS (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
