THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMOKING HOT (W Kennedy) and ILLUMINATE (M van Rensburg) were stubborn loading. b) SMILEY RIVER (*J R Syster) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) UN DEUX TROIS (R Munger) hung in in the concluding stages. b) HEART STWINGS (C Zackey) broke down shortly before the finish line. c) Jockey S Khumalo reported that LADY AMHERST did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that ILLUMINATE choked up in the running and he did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) SMOKING HOT (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) HEART STWINGS was ridden by Jockey C Zackey (declared 30 January 2022 at 09H09). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LADY AMHERST raced with a cornell collar (declared 5 November 2019). b) SARAGON raced with a tongue tie on (declared 27 January 2022 at 11H37). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HEART STWINGS broke down left front fetlock. Humanely euthanased. Specimens collected for analysis. Trainer P A Peter advised (MB). b) LADY AMHERST lame left front; puncture wound on the sole of the hoof. c) ILLUMINATE choked up. d) THE SASH cut into left hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
