THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GRECIA (N Klink), MERCURIAL JET (S Fortune) and STORMY LASS (M Yeni) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RIO'S KISS (*J R Syster) hung in from the 300m. b) MANDALAY (*X Jacobs) shifted in away from the crop from the 200m. c) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking AGA HEAT more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1,500.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (16), the distance and manner in which the crop was used and Jockey G Lerena's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (2). d) RIO'S KISS (*J R Syster), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
