THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROY'S COMMAND (K de Melo) was slow into stride. b) GIMME A RAINBOW (C Zackey) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Apprentice S Hlengwa (BLUE SAILS) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) GIMME A RAINBOW (C Zackey) over-raced in the early and middle stages and thereafter, this gelding hung in, in the concluding stages. c) CONGO COMPAQ (*R Venniker) was baulked for a clear run between the 350m and the 300m. Thereafter, this gelding was switched in to obtain a clear run which resulted in FLYING VISION (S Veale) being brushed inwards. d) Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board with regard to his riding tactics on GIMME A RAINBOW in this race. He explained that he was instructed to race this gelding with cover and to sit as long as possible as GIMME A RAINBOW has a short finishing burst. He further explained that in his opinion, GIMME A RAINBOW is better suited to shorter distances. The Board noted this explanation and advised Jockey C Zackey to ensure that any change of tactics must be brought to the attention of the Stipendiary Board prior to the race in future. e) ROY'S COMMAND (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (BB). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GIMME A RAINBOW raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
