THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPE BOUQUET (*J R Syster) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice J R Syster (CAPE BOUQUET) briefly dropped his left side rein at the 150m. b) Jockey S Brown was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking RATTLE BAG more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Brown signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times that Jockey Brown used his crop (16) and his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline. (1). c) RATTLE BAG (S Brown), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee P de Palmo advised (RS). d) CAPE BOUQUET (*J R Syster), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Webber advised (HK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BEIJING EXPRESS raced equipped with alumites in front (declared 8 February 2022 at 08H23). b) MIDFIELD GIRL raced with club colours (all black). Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he did not have available the registered colours of the owner/s of the horse MIDFIELD GIRL. Trainer Matchett signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CASSOWARY not striding out right hind. b) AFTER ME spread its left hind shoe. SCRATCHED: a) NIGHT LILY coughing (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) ANKOLE lame right front. Veterinary Certificate required prior to entry. Trainer L J Human advised (KS) (Rule 49.7 applies).
