THE STARTER REPORTED: a) METALLIC GOLD (S Brown) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SEWELO (*R Venniker) was hanging out around the turn. b) At approximately the 200m, MON TRESOR (W Kennedy) commenced to give ground when it had come to the end of its run and was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the outside of BUSH FIRE (M Yeni) which rolled out. c) FILL YOUR BOOTS (J Gates) ducked out sharply in the pull-up, dislodging Jockey J Gates which resulted in him being incapacitated from weighing back in. The Board acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. Jockey J Gates was unable to appear before the Board regarding his crop use on FILL YOUR BOOTS in this race and as a result this matter will be addressed at the next race meeting. d) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse ALPENHORN more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse ALPENHORN, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. e) PURPLE OPERATOR (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MON TRESOR raced with a tongue tie (advised 16.02.22/8h50). b) FILL YOUR BOOTS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 15.02.22/22h00). c) SEWELO raced without blinkers (advised 16.02.22/7h14).
