THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AMERICAN DREAM (D Dillon) was stubborn to load. Trainer S Humby was advised to re-school this colt. b) UNCLE GEORGE (D De Gouveia) and AMERICAN DREAM (D Dillon) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) BIM BAM BUDDY (*R Venniker) was hanging out from the 600m. b) PEDRO (*G Pieterse) was hanging in and shifted in, in the concluding stages. c) Trainer L Karriem appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved performance of PEDRO (*G Pieterse), the winner, compared to this colt's previous performance on the 09.01.22 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse (Polytrack). Trainer Karriem attributed the disappointing performance to this colt not appreciating the polytrack surface and has undertaken not to race PEDRO on the polytrack surface where possible. The Board noted this explanation and the future performances of PEDRO will be monitored. d) Trainer W Whitehead signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.3, in that she failed to ensure that she had notified the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that the gelding GREAT ECSTASY had entered her training establishment. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. e) PEDRO (*G Pieterse), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Karriem advised (LB). f) RED SOLE (S Veale), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D Drier advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MUSIC BOX SPECIAL was ridden by Apprentice C Dicken (claiming 1.5kg) (advised 20.02.22/8h08). b) BIM BAM BUDDY raced equipped with blinkers (advised 17.02.22/18h19). c) GREAT ECSTASY is a gelding. Gelded 06.01.21 (advised prior to race meeting). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
