THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROBERT BURNS (L Mxothwa) and WATCH AND LEARN (L Tarentaal) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. b) CAPTIVE MOON (C Zackey) and FUTURISMO (G van Niekerk) were slow into stride. c) FOREVER BILL (R Fourie) jumped outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AL BUGATTI (J Jacobs) raced very wide on the bend and into the straight. b) THOUSAND SHIPS (G Cheyne) raced wide on the bend until passed the 800m. c) FOREVER BILL (R Fourie) and HOME JAMES (A Marcus) were hanging out on the bend. d) At the 350m HAMLET (C Orffer) was momentarily held up when racing tight between JACK AND GINGER (B Fayd'Herbe) and JEM ROCK (R Khathi). e) ROBERT BURNS (L Mxothwa) and THOUSAND SHIPS (G Cheyne) raced green. f) Jockey G Behr reported he felt something amiss with CAPTAIN COLA and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. g) CAPTIVE MOON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised. (TJ) h) FUTURISIMO, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
