THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OSCAR'S WINNER (G van Niekerk) was stubborn and difficult to load, was loaded without a rider, causing a delay. b) SERVICE ACE (A Andrews) and I WANT IT ALL (S Khumalo) were restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey A Andrews reported SYMPHONY OF LIGHT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking HIGH HOSANNA more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Khumalo's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Khumalo used his crop and the number of strikes (14) over the permissible level. c) In view of the report from the starter regarding OSCAR'S WINNER (G van Niekerk), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 22/02/2022 to 28/02/2022 inclusive). OSCAR'S WINNER may not be presented for re-passing during this period d) OSCAR'S WINNER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
