THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BEVOETERD (J Penny) was restless in the stalls. b) GONE IN TIME (C Maujean) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) THORNTON CREEK (D Schwarz) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) BLACK BURNER (R Munger), MAGIC DANCER (S Khumalo) and WHISTLEFORTHEWIND (Wes Marwing) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, MAGIC DANCER (S Khumalo) was bumped in by BLACK BURNER (R Munger), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) At approximately the 300m, Jockey K Matsunyane (PLENTY OF IT) briefly dropped his right-side rein. c) BLACK BURNER (R Munger) hung out from the 400m. d) In view of the performance of MAGIC DANCER (S Khumalo), (distance 4,50 lengths, betting 83/100), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) When questioned regarding the improved performance of GONE IN TIME, Trainer F Bronkhorst explained to Board that this gelding had a history of speedy cutting. In today's race, GONE IN TIME raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind, which in his opinion, had alleviated the problem and accounted for the improved performance. Trainer F Bronkhorst has undertaken to race GONE IN TIME similarly shod in future. f) HERE IS THE TIGER (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, advised (AH). g) MAGIC DANCER (S Khumalo), placed fifth, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) WHISTLEFORTHEWIND was ridden by Jockey Wes Marwing (declared 21 February 2022 at 20H57).
