THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHOT OF COURAGE (*R Venniker) was stubborn to load. Lost 1 length. b) KING'S SPEAR (C Zackey) was stubborn to load and restless in the stalls. c) CUPID'S CAPTAIN (S Veale) was restless in the stalls. Lost 1 length. d) CRUS AGENTUM (L Mohapi) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, ZURI'S STAR (*C Dicken) was bumped by SPECIALLY SELECTED (W Kennedy) which jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls. b) CRUS AGENTUM (L Mohapi) was hanging in throughout. c) Jockey R Khathi (NEW ORLEANS) accidentally dropped his crop leaving the 400m. d) Apprentice C Dicken reported that ZURI'S STAR changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse NDAKA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey A Arries struck the horse NDAKA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) NEW ORLEANS (R Khathi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Hewitson advised (HM).
