THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KOOL BAIKAL (R Munger) and RULE BOOK (*J R Syster) were slow losing one length. b) SECRET IS OURS (*K A Brewer) jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SECRET IS OURS (*K A Brewer) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with ROCK THE GLOBE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that BLUE MOON CITY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking CLARKSON more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times Jockey Matsunyane used his crop (13) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (2). e) Apprentice J R Syster was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking RULE BOOK More than twelve times in the entire race.
