THE STARTER REPORTED A) QUEEN OF SHADES kicked the back gate in the stalls. B) DO SI DO was slow into stride. C) SWEET THE SOUND bumped shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Shortly after leaving the stalls, WINTER SCOUT (M Yeni) shifted out sharply and make heavy contact with SWEET THE SOUND (G Cheyne), resulting in Jockey M Yeni becoming severely unbalanced and losing both stirrup irons which he regained at the 1500m. As a consequence of this incident, SWEET THE SOUND had to be steadied and was slow into stride. B) DO SI DO (*K Strydom) was hanging out on the bend. C) At the 400m, LOLLAPALOOZA (M V'Rensburg) had to be steadied away from the heels of ZAMBAQ (C Maujean), when carried out by QUEEN OF SHADOWS (R Fourie) which was carried out marginally by TWICE TO HEAVEN (L Mxothwa). Thereafter QUEEN OF SHADOWS which commenced to hang out, was directed to the outside of ZAMBAQ approaching the 200m to secure clear running. D) The winner EUROPEANA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) WINTER SCOUT Jockey M Yeni replaced Jockey W Kennedy (07:57 - 03/03/2022). THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
