THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS (K de Melo) was slow losing one length. b) PYROMANIAC (G van Niekerk) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m, SUPER EXCITED (M Yeni) had to steady when awkwardly placed between PLATINUM SKY (A Marcus) and WILLIAM ROBERTSON (C Zackey) which hung in from the 400m. b) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SAFE PASSAGE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of fourteen days. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times Jockey Khumalo used his crop (15) his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (11th transgression) in the last sixty-day period, the manner in which and distance over which the crop was used, and the status of the race. Suspended from 11 March to 24 March 2022 (both days inclusive). c) RED SAXON (J Mariba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J A Soma advised (SM). d) SAFE PASSAGE (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana advised (MdP). e) CAPTAIN LANNISTER (R Munger), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) PICTURE PERFECT was ridden by Jockey B Fayd'Herbe (declared 4 March 2022 at 08H30). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PICTURE PERFECT raced with a tongue tie on (declared 3 March 2022 at 08H27). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS blowing. b) WILLIAM ROBERTSON fatigued, abnormal respiratory noise and blowing. c) PICTURE PERFECT abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
