THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SENTBYDESTINY (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In the concluding stages, OPERA GLASS (*J R Syster) shifted in away from the crop and was straightened and then was carried out by ROUGE ALLURE (D Schwarz) which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected by its rider. A Stipendiary Steward called a race review into this incident which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Apprentice Syster on behalf of OPERA GLASS placed third against ROUGE ALLURE (D Schwarz) placed second on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the closing stages. The Objection Board, after giving due consideration to the evidence put forward by the connections, the distance of 0,15 lengths between the two horses involved and the proximity of the incident to the finish, determined that OPERA GLASS would not have finished ahead of ROUGE ALLURE had this incident not occurred and overruled the Objection and refunded the deposit. b) Apprentice J R Syster was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking OPERA GLASS more than twelve times in the entire race. Apprentice Syster signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times Apprentice Syster used his crop (17) as well as his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (4). c) PIN UP (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
