THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) DAMOVA (J Mariba) was slow into stride.
b) GREENGROWTHELILACS (K de Melo) was slow losing one length.
c) PRINCESS KESH (R Munger) was slow losing three lengths. Trainer A B Fortune was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT).
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) ETERNAL LIFE (D Schwarz), after racing freely to the front, commenced to hang in from the 400m and thereafter compounded in the concluding stages. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
b) THREE HILLS (*K A Brewer) compounded from the 600m.
c) The saddle on WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE (C Zackey) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by an Official.
d) Jockey D De Gouveia was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DEFENDER OF RIGHTS more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey D De Gouveia signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1,500.00 was imposed.
When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and Jockey D De Gouveia's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (3).
e) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with JUST FABULOUS in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
g) Jockey J Mariba reported that he felt something amiss with DAMOVA in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
h) LIGHT OF THE MOON (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

a) ONTHEVERGE was ridden by Apprentice R A Venniker (declared 12 March 2022 at 07H21).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:

a) JUST FABULOUS examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b) WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE scalp wound right hind.
c) DAMOVA stall injury - bilateral abrasions above the eyes.
d) ETERNAL LIFE abnormal respiratory noise and fatigued.
e) PRINCESS KESH not striding out both hind.
f) THREE HILLS mouth injury.
THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
