POLLARD lost 2 lengths. CLOUDS OF WITNESS lost 1 length. TECHNO CAPTAIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Entering the straight CLOUDS OF WITNESS shifted out from the crop and was straightened by his rider. Approaching the 250 metre mark TECHNO CAPTAIN shifted out towards CLOUDS OF WITNESS resulting in CLOUDS OF WITNESS shifting outwards off his intended line. This in turn caused PORT KEY to be inconvenienced for a number of strides. Between the 200 and the 100 metre marks both CLOUDS OF WITNESS and TECHNO CAPTAIN shifted out independently from each other. PORT KEY then had to switch in at the 100 metre mark to continue his run. Over the final 50 metres TECHNO CAPTAIN shifted out from the crop carrying CLOUDS OF WITNESS outwards slightly. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward which was followed by an Objection lodged by Jockey Jacobson, rider of the second placed horse, CLOUDS OF WITNESS, against the winner, TECHNO CAPTAIN, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Objection Board after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, hearing all the evidence and after considering the distance of a short head between these two horses, was of the opinion that had CLOUDS OF WITNESS had an unhindered run to the line he would have beaten TECHNO CAPTAIN and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judge's result accordingly. Jockey Jacobson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that whilst riding CLOUDS OF WITNESS he used his crop more than 12 times in this race. In coming to a suitable penalty the Board considered the manner in which the crop was used and fined Jockey Jacobson. CLOUDS OF WITNESS raced fitted with alumites both fore and unshod behind. Scratched: BALLYMAINE - not eating up.
