THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MUSIC BOX SPECIAL (R Khathi) and MANDALA EFFECT (*D Geerthsen) were stubborn to load. Trainers N Kotzen and G H van Zyl will be requested to re-school their respective runners. b) CUP OF MAGIC (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 500m, SPY MASTER (D Dillon) was switched out and encouraged to race around the field and take up a forward position into the straight. b) At the 350m, RED SOLE (S Veale) was baulked for a number of strides and switched to the outside of MANDALA EFFECT (*D Geerthsen) to obtain a clear run. Thereafter, at the 250m, this gelding was switched to the outside of LAKE COMO (*R Venniker) to obtain a clear run. c) BEECHURST (A Marcus) was hanging out from the 300m. d) BEECHURST (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) OH MY WORD ITS ROY raced equipped with blinkers and with a tongue tie (advised 12.03.22/9h47). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BEECHURST : Abnormal respiratory noise. b) RED SOLE : Cut into right front. c) BARBATTI : Returned post-race having cast the left front shoe. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
