REASON TO SING and FLYING COLOURS were slow away and lost 1 length, respectively. MEDITERANEAN MAGIC was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. MEDITERANEAN MAGIC was incorrectly equipped when presented in the parade ring. In view of the performance of FLYING COLOURS, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Greeff was requested to report back on this filly upon return to the stables. At approximately the 100m, TUNGSTEN was carried out and thereafter, shortly before the finish, bumped out by QUEEN OF POP which shifted out away from the crop from the 150m. A member of the Stipendiary Board called a race review into this incident however, after reviewing the patrol films of the race, no further action was taken. In arriving at this decision, the Stipendiary Board considered the proximity of the incident to the finish as well as the distance between TUNGSTEN and QUEEN OF POP at the finish, which was one length. Accordingly, after considering the evidence in this matter, the Board was of the view that, it could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, TUNGSTEN would have finished in front of QUEEN OF POP. Therefore, no further action was taken. QUEEN OF POP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. KATASHA raced equipped with cheek pieces.
