THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) DEFINING MOMENT (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride.
b) CHE VINCERA (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
c) ECHO OF LIFE (A Domeyer) was slow into stride.
d) ROCK N ROLL GIRL (C Bantam) and WHITE WITCH (L Mxothwa) were reluctant to load, causing a delay.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) LA MAS BELLA (B Fayd'Herbe) was hanging out on the bend.
b) STAR IN WINTER (K de Melo) was hanging out from the 200m.
c) Leaving the 50m Jockey G van Niekerk hesitated with his riding when racing tight on the inside of ECHO OF LIFE (A Domeyer), which rolled in slightly.
d) Jockey J Jacobs was unable to fully test LUCY THE PINK in the concluding stages when awkwardly placed on the outside of BUSY LIZZIE (R Fourie), which raced green and rolled out at the finish.
e) CHE VINCERA (G van Niekerk), DEFINING MOMENT (K Steyn) and LEADING PARTY (D Ashby) raced green.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ROCK N ROLL GIRL (C Bantam) and WHITE WITCH (L Mxothwa), Trainers VH Marshall and PAW Botha respectively will be advised to have these fillies re schooled before their next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g) PUCALLPA, the winner, which was reported to be coughing post-race by Jockey Zackey, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (JF)
