THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ORGETORIX (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing two lengths. b) SONNENSTRAHL (K de Melo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 250m, INTEGRATE (J Mariba) which attempted to make his run between the inside running rail and SONNENSTRAHL (K de Melo), had to ease and switch out when awkwardly placed on the inside of SONNENSTRAHL which hung in from the 300m proving difficult to assist. Thereafter in the concluding stages, INTEGRATE had to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of ORGETORIX (J P van der Merwe) which rolled in. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with SONNENSTRAHL in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer J J van Vuuren was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. c) CROSS EXAMINER (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Sham advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BEVOETERD raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 17 March 2022 at 10H58). b) CROSS EXAMINER raced with club colours (black) Stewards permission. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SONNENSTRAHL examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
