THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the 250m DUBAI LIGHTS (O Noach) shifted in and bumped DO ANGELS CRY (S Mbhele) on two occassions, resulting in DUBAI LIGHTS (O Noach) being turned inwards and DO ANGELS CRY (S Mbhele) becoming unbalanced. Thereafter, at the 100m, DO ANGELS CRY (S Mbhele) shifted out and was brushed on the hindquarters by DUBAI LIGHTS (O Noach), was turned outwards and carried DUBAI LIGHTS (O Noach) outwards which then made contact with the quarters of SUDDEN STAR (L Mxothwa), which had shifted in. SUDDEN STAR (L Mxothwa) was then turned inwards onto DUBAI LIGHTS (O Noach) and made contact with DO ANGELS CRY (S Mbhele) shortly before the finish. As a consequence, KAPTEIN (C Zackey) was steadied away from the heels of DUBAI LIGHTS (O Noach) leaving the 100m. A member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review and after reviewing the race recording, could not be satisfied that the race result had been affected and took no further action. The Stipendiary Board has adjourned to review these incidents.
b) Jockey G Cheyne reported NIGHT SONG made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Trainer JMT Stewart was charged with a contravention of Rule 38.3 in that he failed to have the passport for NIGHT SONG available for inspection prior to this horse racing. Trainer JMT Stewart signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00
d) DO ANGELS CRY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TJ)
