THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BIG FIVE (+I Lukhele) was slow losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MANSOORIYA (+C Mabaya) raced green. b) BIG FIVE (+I Lukhele), after being slow away, failed to muster early speed, however, after a vigorous ride from Work Rider I Lukhele, BIG FIVE managed to finish the race off strongly. c) Approaching the 400m, TARA ITI (+T Mayhew) was steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of RED AURA (+S Siphika), which rolled in, and EARL OF CARDIGAN (+S Mkhumbuzi), which rolled out. d) Approaching the 300m, RED AURA (+S Siphika) and COMING IN HOT (+A Feni) came together and brushed. e) In view of the performance of EARL OF CARDIGAN (+S Mkhumbuzi), (distance 14,75 lengths, betting 2/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Work Rider A Feni reported that he felt something amiss with COMING IN HOT in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning COMING IN HOT, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised. h) Work Rider S Mosia was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that he used his crop in a manner which was in contravention of the conditions of the Race, by striking DESERT CRUSADER on one occasion with his crop, when his crop hand was off the reins. Work Rider S Mosia signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in one (1) Work Rider race. Suspension date: 26 April 2022 i) DESERT CRUSADER (+S Mosia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W C Marwing advised (AH). j) MUSICAL KISS (+T Mango), placed fourth, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee H Chauque, acting on behalf of Trainer G J Maroun, advised (LK). WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) TARA ITI raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 23 March 2022 at 07H52). b) MUSICAL KISS raced equipped with alumites and with a tongue tie on (declared 28 March 2022 at 16H29). c) THE PUNISHER raced without blinkers (declared 31 March 2022 at 07H05). d) TARA ITI raced in club colours (black with a blue cap) Stipes permission. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) EARL OF CARDIGAN not striding out right front; cast its right hind shoe in running. b) COMING IN HOT coughing and bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (KS). Trainer requested scoping and epistaxis was confirmed. SCRATCHED: a) COPERNICUS insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
