THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ROSE VELVET (R Danielson) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) FAR AWAY WINTER (D David), TOP SAIL (M Yeni), REGINA BELLISSIMA (M van Rensburg) and WOW (*S Sosibo) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, HEARTLIGHT (J P v'd Merwe), FAR AWAY WINTER (D David) and MERCANTOUR (D De Gouveia) were carried out by ROSE VELVET (R Danielson), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) Approaching the 200m, MERCANTOUR (D De Gouveia), which hung out from the 350m, shifted in marginally away from the crop and became unbalanced when bumped by FAR AWAY WINTER (D David), which shifted out significantly away from the crop. This incident resulted in ROSE VELVET (R Danielson) having to check and switch in to continue its run.
Jockey D David was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of FAR AWAY WINTER, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MERCANTOUR (D De Gouveia) and ROSE VELVET (R Danielson) when he shifted out from the 300m. Jockey D David signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days.
Suspension dates: 10 April 2022 to 16 April 2022 (both days inclusive).
c) ANIARA (G Lerena) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m.
d) FAR AWAY WINTER (D David) took a number of awkward strides in running. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
e) ANIARA (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
