THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PAISLEY PARK (C Habib) was slow losing one length. b) MISS ELEGANCE (C Zackey) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey M Yeni reported that ZUZAN made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey J P van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FLORENTINE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey J P van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1,500.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (13) and Jockey J P van der Merwe's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (2). c) FLORENTINE (J P van der Merwe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MISS ELEGANCE: Jockey C Zackey weighed out at 55,2kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. b) LULU'S BOY: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 54,6kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
